On April 2nd Katahdin Middle High School participated in the Choices Matter Program. The speaker Ethan Fisher captivated the audience with his personal story and then the students were able to use impaired googles to walk the line and the driving simulator. Choices Matter partners with The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety. Be sure to ask your students about this opportunity they got to experience.
April 2nd was a busy day for our students at Katahdin Middle High School. In the morning some of the 12th graders attended the career fair at Stearns High School. Meanwhile our 11th graders were busy taking the SAT's.
In art class, K/1 students studied the solar eclipse. They talked about what happens during an eclipse and students got to explore blending and layering colors with chalk!

Our 8th graders in Mrs. Ritchie's class presented their Passion Projects today. Each student did an amazing job and shared their unique passions.
In 2022, Maine became one of the first states to pass legislation providing free school meals. Today on Maine Calling, a Maine Public radio production, a panel discussed how that is working, what has been done to improve and diversify school nutrition, and what's still needed to meet the needs of childhood hunger. Denise Tapley Proctor, food service director at RSU 89, was featured as a VIP caller! Hello, Katahdin Community! Due to the weather, our monthly food pantry will take place on Thursday, March 28th from 2:30 to 4:00 in the KES bus garage. Please do not plan to arrive early. For safety purposes, we will enter through the front door and exit toward the back to keep a smooth flow of traffic.
