Middle school outdoor education students are learning outdoor survival skills. They gathered materials needed to start and sustain a fire that they would be able to cook on. They were able to test their fire making skills by cooking s’mores.

The After School Program, in conjunction with the Penquis Prevention Council, hosted a family meal and game night at KES. Many students and families attended, making it a huge success.
There may not be a lot of snow on the ground just yet, but these students found enough to make their first KES snowman of the season.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, students at KES created thankful turkeys.

Both Middle School and High School outdoor education classes had guest speakers from Katahdin Learning Project. They were taught the proper way to use a compass and a map.
The Katahdin Middle School Outdoor Education class participated in a field trip to the Peavey Brook Outdoor Center. They learned about bike parts and maintenance, and then went on a short ride on the trails.
The After School Program and Penquis are hosting a Family Fun Night which includes a meal at the elementary cafeteria 5:30-7:00 on Friday November 7th. Families have the opportunity to connect while they play board games and share a meal.
Lots of school spirit and Halloween fun at KES!

Our high school students also participated in Halloween fun by dressing up to earn cougar points for Cougarfest.
In the Halloween spirit, our middle school students competed to see which class had the most students dress up. The 6th graders won with 89%!

Our juniors and seniors went to the financial
Fitness Fair today at Stearns High School. They learned about how important good credit is. At the end of the fair, 15 -$20 gift cards were drawn and five of our student won a gift card. A subway lunch was provided then a Dunkin run before we headed back home.
Ms. Hart, our music teacher, was able to get 3 glockenspiels to add to our percussion section for students to use.
