On Saturday, November 29th, our National Honor Society students participated in the wreath-laying ceremony in Patten. They honored our fallen heroes by respectfully placing wreaths on veterans' graves.
On Sunday, Nov. 30th at 3:00 p.m. students at Katahdin Elementary are invited to attend the Molunkus Valley Sno Drifters Christmas Parade in Sherman. Immediately following the parade the After School Program will sing Christmas carols, visit with Santa and have cookies at the Molunkus Valley Sno-Drifters Club at 58 North Street in Sherman. On Tuesday, KES students welcomed a special visitor, Lorna Harris, who shared information about Wreaths Across America. She then invited students to make a wreath in recognition of the 10 qualities that define our nation's servicemembers.
Elementary students made pinecone turkeys in the spirit of Thanksgiving.
There will be NO ASP this week (11/24 & 11/25). Also, the Northbound buses are doubling up tonight (11/24). Students who ride Sue & Kathy's buses may be up to 20-40 minutes late arriving home. If you wish to pick your child up at school, please call the school office.
Middle school outdoor education students are learning outdoor survival skills. They gathered materials needed to start and sustain a fire that they would be able to cook on. They were able to test their fire making skills by cooking s’mores.

The After School Program, in conjunction with the Penquis Prevention Council, hosted a family meal and game night at KES. Many students and families attended, making it a huge success.
There may not be a lot of snow on the ground just yet, but these students found enough to make their first KES snowman of the season.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, students at KES created thankful turkeys.

Both Middle School and High School outdoor education classes had guest speakers from Katahdin Learning Project. They were taught the proper way to use a compass and a map.
The Katahdin Middle School Outdoor Education class participated in a field trip to the Peavey Brook Outdoor Center. They learned about bike parts and maintenance, and then went on a short ride on the trails.
The After School Program and Penquis are hosting a Family Fun Night which includes a meal at the elementary cafeteria 5:30-7:00 on Friday November 7th. Families have the opportunity to connect while they play board games and share a meal.
