Sherman- Olivia Mitchell, a senior at Katahdin High School has been selected to receive the 2026 Principal’s Award, Principal Melanie Cullins announced today. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, leadership, and citizenship.
Throughout her years at Katahdin High School, Olivia has distinguished herself in the classroom, as well as being President of Student Council, National Honor Society, and Class President. She was awarded the Army Service Award and medal for overall knowledge, performance, leadership, and teamworking skills. Olivia has proven herself to be a clear and effective communicator, a lifelong learner, a creative and practical problem solver, an involved citizen, a quality worker, and an informed thinker.
Melanie Cullins and award winner Olivia Mitchell and other award winners and their principals are invited to attend an honors luncheon and have a chance to win a $1000 scholarship. There will be ten scholarships drawn.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
